Classically, body scanning meditation or Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India's most ancient techniques of meditation incorporating the connection to one's body as it truly is; a state of being.
Properly, Vipassana is performed in seated meditation with specific breathing into parts of the body and detaching from the need to have description or understanding of it - in essence to be it - without needing further mental, emotional or physical attachment.
Body Scan No. 13 is an adaptation built upon this principle, yet programmed specifically for newer or inconsistent meditators.

Wear loosely fitted, casual clothing. You may prefer to be nude, with a blanket. Be sure to adjust air temperature to your comfort level and reduce opportunity for distraction.
Designate a supported, peaceful environment, such as on a yoga mat or blanket - even in your bed is perfectly fine.
Create any ambiance you wish; a salt lamp, candles, incense, aromatherapy, so long as they are setting the mood and not distracting.
